Techniques to Exterior Painting

In the question of exterior painting, there are always questions that persist in the mind of the homeowner. What are the techniques to paint the exterior of your house? Which technique is the best? Well, there are basically two techniques that are widely used by contractors which are using a sprayer and also painting by hand with brushes.

Nowadays, most people simply prefer to use power sprayer than brushes and rollers. This is because using a sprayer can cut short the time needed to paint your house’s exterior up to weeks at end. This leads to another reason the spraying technique is preferred. By finishing the exterior painting fast, you can save a considerable amount of money. There are many sprayers that can be used such as the airless sprayer and high-volume low-pressure sprayer depending on the usage.

However, some people prefer the traditional way of painting as it is much more personal and thorough. This is especially true in the trimming work. Nothing is as precise as a painter’s painting when you want to make sure that all the edges or corners of your house is covered. It is also much more convenient to paint with brushes and rollers when you need an extra coating of paint compared with sprayer. Both of these techniques have its advantages and disadvantages but there are a few basic steps that need to be taken before any painting can begin.

For a starter, you need to select the colour combination that you want to make your house pleasing. Try not to paint your house all white as it will easily be dirtied. Then, cover areas that you do not want dirty with paint with materials such as tarps. Also, inspect and trim the surface of your home’s exterior carefully and repair any flaw. Holes should be filled with wood filler and smoothen after it is dried properly. If the existing paint is flaky, remove it, otherwise, there are no need for the removal. When all is ready, you can start painting either with the sprayer or the good old-fashioned way for your desired results.
